EDU SMART TRAINING CENTRE LIMITED is an international training and research centre founded in 2006 by Dr Aleksandra Marcinkowska. Since its establishment, the organisation has been actively involved in European education, training and innovation projects, supporting professionals, organisations and institutions across Europe and beyond. Operating in Ireland, Poland and the United Kingdom, and cooperating with partners in 17 European Union countries, EDU SMART delivers high-quality learning solutions aligned with European Union standards, policies and future labour market needs.

As a training and research centre, EDU SMART specialises in Vocational Education and Training (VET), entrepreneurship development and professional expert brand building. The company focuses on transferring effective strategies and best practices between EU Member States, helping organisations adapt innovation, strengthen competencies and implement sustainable solutions within their sectors aligned within the EU requirements and recommendation. Many of the organisation’s activities are co-funded by the European Union and delivered through international partnerships and collaborative projects.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) plays a central role in EDU SMART’s mission and work. VET is a form of education focused on developing practical skills, professional competencies and real-world knowledge required in modern workplaces. Unlike traditional academic pathways, VET connects learning directly with professional practice, allowing individuals and organisations to respond quickly to changing economic conditions, technological developments and regulatory requirements. Through VET, learners gain competencies that can be immediately applied in business, public administration and the NGO sector, supporting employability, innovation and long-term professional growth.

EDU SMART TC delivers its training programmes using modern educational approaches, including micro-credentials. In June 2022, the Council of the European Union (EU) adopted a Recommendation on a European approach to micro-credentials for lifelong learning and employability. The Recommendation seeks to support the development, implementation and recognition of micro-credentials across institutions, businesses, sectors and borders. An effective culture of lifelong learning is key to ensuring that everyone has the knowledge, skills and competences they need to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

Micro-credentials certify the learning outcomes of short-term learning experiences, for example a short course or training. They offer a flexible, targeted way to help people develop the knowledge, skills and competences they need for their personal and professional development.

Shorter forms of learning opportunities than traditional qualifications, such as micro-credentials, are being developed rapidly across Europe and around the world. These opportunities are made available by a wide variety of public and private providers in response to the demand for more flexible, learner-centred forms of education and training. They also have the potential to offer education and training opportunities to a wider range of learners, including disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

EDU SMART TC is also an active contributor to EPALE — the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe created by the European Commission — EDU SMART shares knowledge, research outcomes and educational practices, expert content with the wider European adult learning community. Through EPALE content creation, the company contributes to the exchange of innovative methodologies, supports cooperation among educators and strengthens the quality and accessibility of adult education and VET across Europe.
